SOUTHGATE — A woman on Poplar Street was cited Oct. 13 for having an unlicensed dog running unrestrained through the neighborhood after the dog exited an unsecured gate and aggressively approached a woman walking a small dog.

The dog walker was able to pick up her pet before the pit bull mix was able to reach her dog. She said the aggressive dog’s owner the came outside, grabbed the dog and put him inside her house before coming back outside to argue with the dog walker about the incident.

An animal control officer spoke to the owner of the pit bull, who claimed the dog was vaccinated and licensed. However, a later records check revealed that the dog was not licensed. A citation was then sent to the woman at her residence.

Identity thief accesses utility account

A woman reported Oct. 14 that an unknown person had hacked into her DTE account, changed the email address and password, and run up an $800 bill.

DTE was able to help her access her account to change back the email address and password, but she was still working with them to cancel the unauthorized charges for a Sterling Heights address.
