HEIGHTS — Following a late-night report Sept. 23 of reckless driving in the parking lot of Polk Elementary School, police officers discovered an abandoned older model red Jeep Cherokee lying on its roof in the field east of the school.
Nearby residents said they saw two or three young men running from the field and leaving in a newer model white Ford Escape. A residential surveillance camera had footage of the Ford Escape leaving the area.
The Jeep VIN indicated that it belonged to a man in Tecumseh, who said he sold the vehicle 12 years ago, but apparently the title was never transferred to the new owners.
