HEIGHTS — The manager of a Wendy’s restaurant at 8515 Telegraph Road reported Sept. 6 that a scammer whom they thought was the owner called the restaurant and had them transfer $772 in Bitcoin to facilitate the store’s new Point of Sale system.

The manager sent the money via Bitcoin from a kiosk at a nearby gas station. The transfer could not be stopped or traced, and investigating police officials believe the scammer call originated overseas.
