HEIGHTS — An employee at Citgo gas station, 5157 Telegraph Road, reported the morning of Sept. 7 that a man entered the gas station and attempted to get change for a counterfeit $100 bill.

The man was described as a white male, with white hair and a white beard.

The clerk, who noticed immediately that the bill’s appearance was off, stepped away to check the bill, and called for a police response. The suspect left the gas station during this time, leaving on foot.

The store employee said the man had been in the store 30 minutes earlier, and may have shoplifted during that time.

Surveillance camera footage of the man was forwarded to police officials, but facial recognition software was unable to find a match.

The counterfeit bill was taken as evidence.
