SOUTHGATE — The driver of a white Chevrolet sport utility vehicle hit the brick entrance sign at Southgate Apartments on the morning of Sept. 18, and left the location without accepting responsibility for the estimated $2,500 in damage to the sign.

A witness living nearby told responding police officers what she saw. She also supplied a video and photo of the vehicle involved.

The property manager of the apartment complex filed a police report based on the extensive damage to the complex’s entrance sign.

Police officers also canvassed nearby residents whose surveillance cameras may have recorded the incident.
