RIVERVIEW — A 51-year-old Wyandotte woman drove the front of her black Subaru Forester into a column near the front door of Dearborn Federal Credit Union, 18070 Fort Street, the afternoon of Sept. 17, damaging the column.

The woman denied having consumed any alcohol or drugs. She was loaded onto a stretcher and taken to Trenton Corewell Health Hospital by Riverview fire department personnel, who said she smelled of alcohol.

A witness, a man who was with his mother outside the credit union, said he saw the woman’s vehicle go over the curb onto the sidewalk at about 20 mph and strike the column as they were near the building entrance. He said he pushed his mother out of the way and shielded her body with his.

Police officials requested surveillance camera footage from the credit union.

The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
