RIVERVIEW — A 30-year-old Trenton man was arrested the night of Aug. 17 for Operating While Impaired when a police officer noticed that his Jeep Grand Cherokee was operating without rear running lights on southbound Fort Street, south of Sibley Road.

The man had an open Corona beer bottle with condensation on it, which was 75 percent full, in the front center console.

The driver declined to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but consented to a preliminary breath test, which revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.134, higher than the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.

The man was taken into custody, and since it was his second offense, his license plate was destroyed and a paper plate was issued. His vehicle was then impounded and towed.
