WYANDOTTE — An officer conducted a traffic stop after seeing a northbound driver on Fort Street repeatedly swerving over the white lane divider.

The driver, who smelled strongly of alcohol, had slurred speech, and his coordination was slow and compromised. He admitted to having had “a couple of drinks.”

Standardized field sobriety tests indicated impairment, and a preliminary breath test indicated that the driver had a blood alcohol content that was 2.5 times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
