RIVERVIEW — A 20-year-old Rockwood man was arrested for operating while impaired and resisting an officer at 1:08 a.m. July 27 after his father’s gray Ford Mustang that he was driving became stuck on the railroad tracks near Riverview Drive and Ford Avenue.
The man failed standardized field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.199, nearly two-and-a-half times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
He tried to run off into the nearby woods when it became apparent that he was about to be arrested. However, he stumbled and fell repeatedly, and police officers were able to restrain and handcuff him.
The car was removed from the railroad tracks, then impounded and towed.
The man was taken into custody, and Riverview firefighters checked him to see if he sustained any serious injuries when he fell while attempting to flee. He was found to have minor scrapes and cuts.
He was cited for operating with a high blood-alcohol concentration, and for interfering with a public safety officer.
