HEIGHTS – Police officers Ali Hammoud, Hussein Fayad and Alisa Simon were recognized by Police Chief Michael Guzowski and city officials July 14 for their life saving actions in the line of duty.

The three successfully performed CPR and administered Narcan during a critical emergency at 1:09 p.m. May 29, saving the life of a 72-year-old man at a bus stop at the northwest corner of Telegraph and Ford roads.

Three doses of Narcan were needed to revived the man, along with CPR.

Guzowski said the man’s heart stopped multiple times while the officers worked on him until Dearborn Heights firefighters arrived about 7 minutes later to take over.

He said the man was taken to Garden City Hospital and later discharged after making a full recovery.

“This 72-year-old man is alive today because of quick response, sound decision making and life-saving actions by Officers Hammoud, Simon and Fayad,” Guzowski said. “Their actions reflect the highest standards of police service and demonstrate the critical role our officers play protecting life in our community.”
