DEARBORN — A Dearborn woman whose reckless driving was captured on another driver’s dash cam video was investigated and subsequently cited for multiple offenses that occurred the evening of May 6 in the area of Oxford Street and Telegraph Road.
There was construction on Telegraph in the area, with a line of cars on westbound Oxford waiting to enter northbound Telegraph Road.
A dark gray Range Rover bypassed the cars waiting to enter Telegraph, driving west in the eastbound lane of Oxford, then turned north onto Telegraph Road. A small SUV driving east on Oxford had to evade the wrong way Range Rover.
The driver of the Range Rover also disregarded a stop sign at Westpoint Street onto Oxford, and then passed a vehicle on Westpoint waiting to turn onto Oxford.
The driver was shown on video to be a woman wearing a dark hijab. The license plate was registered to a 2014 black Range Rover but was currently being used on a gray 2018 Range Rover.
Upon investigation, police went to the vehicle’s registered address, and the man who owns the Range Rover said it is exclusively driven by his wife, who was not home at the time. The man said he doubted his wife would drive recklessly.
After consulting with the 19th District Court prosecutor, the investigating officers issued a reckless driving citation, which they gave to the man to give to his wife, and he said the Police Department would be contacted by his attorney.
