MELVINDALE — Police officers responded the afternoon of April 23 to a report of a domestic assault and battery in the 17000 block of Palmer Street, where they found a man bleeding from a stab wound to his upper left arm and to his torso.

While applying first aid, the police officers learned that he was injured when he tried to intervene in a physical altercation occurring between his mother and sister. One of the women had fled the scene before they arrived.
