MELVINDALE – Retiring school crossing guard Adrienne Diehl was honored at the May 20 City Council meeting for 15 years of dedicated service and helping ensure that students arrive safely at school.
She was thanked for her tireless dedication during early mornings in freezing cold temperatures, rainstorms and unpredictable Michigan weather.
Diehl was praised for her professionalism and alertness, which was accompanied by a smile while she protected children.
She was praised for handing out gloves on cold days to children who didn’t have any, as well as umbrellas on rainy days.
Diehl was also noted to have a determined demeanor when encountering drivers who lacked the proper appreciation for pedestrian safety.
She was proclaimed a “true champion” for the city of Melvindale for helping to keep its children safe.
