DEARBORN — A repeat shoplifter was arrested May 2 at JCPenney at Fairlane Town Center after having received a lifetime ban from the store in the past.

The arrestee, a Detroit woman, tried to leave the store with $282 worth of clothing, some of which she tried to wear out of the store.

The woman had attempted to remove alarm tags from the merchandise, and had ruined a $37 shirt by breaking a dye pack on a security tag.

The woman was jailed until she was released on bail.
