TRENTON — A man reported April 25 that a $110 check he mailed to pay a credit card bill was stolen, with the name of the payee changed and the dollar section altered to indicate a $9,600 amount.

The bank flagged the check for insufficient funds and did not redeem it. Images of both the original and altered check were submitted to the Trenton police department detective bureau.
