WYANDOTTE – Resident Mary Pilon was sworn in as the new city clerk during the Feb. 9 City Council meeting, a part-time position assisted by full-time Deputy City Clerk Dana Hughes.
The position of city clerk became vacant following the recent resignation of Larry Stec.
Under the Wyandotte City Charter, the mayor appoints a qualified candidate, which is then subject to council approval.
Pilon will hold office through May 2029, at which time Stec’s term would have expired.
Mayor Robert DeSana, who performed the swearing in, said Pilon, a resident and qualified elector, has a strong administrative background, extensive professional experience supporting executive leadership and a long record of community service.
Pilon will help maintain the official and oversight responsibilities of the city clerk’s office, which is now structured as an elected office with no set hours, similar to other elected offices in Wyandotte, including the city treasurer and city assessor.
The day-to-day operational duties of the city clerk’s office are handled by Hughes.
