RIVERVIEW — A 55-year-old Southgate woman who crashed into a one-way road sign at 12:56 a.m. Feb. 14 on southbound Fort Street near Greentrees Apartments was alone in the vehicle, claiming the driver left the scene.
When police officers approached her, she began yelling and screaming. She was unsteady on her feet, her speech was slurred and she had visibly urinated through her clothes.
She said “I’m very f—king drunk” and demonstrated dramatic mood changes, from aggressive to cooperative. She screamed profanities at the police officers and refused to get into the patrol car.
Due to her uncooperative nature, standardized field sobriety tests were not conducted.
The driver’s seat of her vehicle, which was pulled forward to accommodate her stature, was covered with urine.
The vehicle was subsequently impounded and towed.
When the woman was taken to the Riverview police station, she was unsteady on her feet, and she said she needed some dope and asked police officers to take her to get some crack.
She refused to take a preliminary breath test. She agreed to a blood draw, but a search warrant was also obtained in case she changed her mind.
The woman was taken to Corewell Health Hospital in Trenton for a blood draw, then returned to the police station, where she was held.
