DEARBORN – Re-elected Mayor Abdullah Hammoud spoke about a shared commitment to building Dearborn’s future while reflecting on the city’s diversity and values during the city’s Jan. 10 inauguration.
The ceremony, held in the Michael A. Guido Theater at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, began with the Dearborn Police and Fire Honor Guard posting the colors and Vanessa El-Zein, Director of the Dearborn Youth Voices, singing the national anthem.
Bishop Brock Dunlap of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Imam Sayed Saleh Qazwini delivered the invocation.
Michigan 1st District Court of Appeals Judge Mariam Saad Bazzi swore in the re-elected mayor, as well as City Clerk George Darany and City Councilmembers Michael Sareini, Kamal Alsawafy, Mustapha Hammoud, Robert Abraham, Ken Paris and Gary Enos, along with newcomer Devon Riley, who became the third generation of his family to serve the city as an elected official.
Mayor Hammoud said Dearborn is shaped by generations who believe in progress, community and respect for one another.
“As we mark this inauguration, I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in our shared work and proud of what we have accomplished together,” he said. “Over the past years, we have continued to move Dearborn forward, strengthening city services, investing in our neighborhoods and reaffirming our commitment to being a welcoming city where everyone belongs.”
