WYANDOTTE – An Historic Wyandotte Women event will replace the Historical Museum’s Pie and Ice Cream Social on the 2026 Heritage Days roster.

The Cultural and Historical Commission approved the change at its Sept. 11 meeting, and the City Council approved it during its Jan. 12 meeting.

The annual Heritage Events Series offers a schedule of historical and educational events presented by the museum.

While the Pie and Ice Cream Social will still be held, it will now be run by the Wyandotte Historical Society.

The Historic Wyandotte Women event, scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. March 27 and 28 at the Ford-MacNichol Home, is a live-action exploration of the lives of notable women from the city’s past.

Registration for half-hour time slots begins online March 6, with a $5 admission fee.

The museum will now be able to use Heritage Days money for the event, which reportedly will require less overhead than the annual Pie and Ice Cream Social.

Director of Museums Jesse Rose said the Historic Wyandotte Women event began in 2024 and while it has been presented annually since then, it was not part of the Heritage Days event series until now.

He said costumed re-enactors will be on hand and relevant artifacts will be on display.

For more information about Wyandotte Historical Museum events, go to wyandottemi.gov, select “arts and culture” and then click on the museum tab.
