DEARBORN — A Dearborn Heights man who hit a tree on Outer Drive near Croissant Street the morning of Dec. 25 said he was rushing to his mother’s house in response to an unspecified family emergency when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to change lanes while driving at a high rate of speed.

He said he was not injured and refused medical attention. A preliminary breath test determined that he had not consumed any alcohol.

His vehicle, a dark gray Buick Lacrosse, was impounded and towed, and he was cited for reckless driving and for not having proof of vehicle insurance.
