HEIGHTS — A man reported Dec. 4 that an unknown person hacked his email account and attempted to direct his accountant to wire money to different accounts.
The first attempt was on Nov. 19, and the attempt was concealed by using the victim’s junk email folder. On Nov. 25, another fund transfer was initiated.
The victim’s financial institution blocked the second transaction and reimbursed the first transaction, and is currently investigating the incident.
