RIVERVIEW — Multiple larcenies from automobiles were reported Oct. 9, which began with an initial report to police that people were checking the door handles of parked cars on Mulberry Street looking for unlocked vehicles.

One resident had surveillance camera footage of a man dressed in black opening the side door of his gray 2024 Ford F-150, while another suspect dressed in black is seen checking door handles for unlocked vehicles nearby.

The suspects left the area in an older model white sedan.

Wyandotte police officers later stopped a white sedan with five male passengers all dressed in black. Riverview police officers arrived at the scene of the traffic stop.

A purse with a Riverview Belle Fountain employee’s identification badge was found in the white sedan, as were other items, including pills and a handgun.

It was later determined that the Belle Fountain employee’s purse was stolen from her vehicle at her Woodhaven residence.

The white sedan was impounded and held as evidence.

One of the men, who had an active arrest warrant, was taken into custody.

Another Riverview resident later submitted surveillance camera footage of men dressed in black accompanied by a white sedan rifling through their vehicle.

On Oct. 10, another resident reported the theft of items from a vehicle, including AirPods, which can be tracked as long as the battery is charged.

Another resident filed a report on Oct. 10 reporting a larceny from auto that included a magazine with 9-millimeter ammunition, Oakley sunglasses valued at $180, a microfiber cloth and an onboard diagnostic reader device.
