HEIGHTS —A woman who was having difficulty obtaining financing to purchase a house discovered Sept. 15 that her Social Security number had been used by an unknown identity thief to apply for numerous bank accounts and short-term loans, and that her SSN had been flagged as suspicious.
She also discovered that her credit reports had all been flagged with alerts. The woman said she had recently begun to receive calls from collection agencies as well.
