HEIGHTS — A man reported Sept. 22 that he believes his tax preparer fraudulently used his personal information to open a Home Depot credit card account.

The victim reported on Aug. 15 he went to a tax preparation chain   to have his taxes done, and provided the name of the preparer.

He said a day later, on Aug. 16, he received a notification that a Home Depot credit card had been opened in his name and $522 charged to the card.

The victim said he suspects the tax preparer, who had access to his identifying information, of committing the identity theft, but he had no proof to prove his suspicions.
