TAYLOR — A traffic stop initiated at 1:32 a.m. Aug. 23 at Allen and Pennsylvania roads for illegal window tint, not dimming his high-beam headlights and a license plate that indicated the vehicle was uninsured resulted in the second operating while impaired arrest for a 33-year-old Detroit man.

The man smelled of intoxicants and admitted to having had three shots of vodka a half hour earlier. He initially refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests but agreed to perform a visual nystagmus test, which he failed.

The man refused to submit to a preliminary breath test. He was then placed under arrest and his vehicle was impounded and towed.

Once he was at the police station for booking, the man submitted to a preliminary breath test, and he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.17, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
