WYANDOTTE — A 24-year-old Westland man was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Aug. 17 when police officers saw him speeding in an off-road vehicle in the area of Biddle Avenue and North Drive.
The ORV was unlicensed and the driver smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot.
Inside the ORV were an open can of beer and a half-full bottle of liquor.
A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content three times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
He was arrested for operating while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, having open intoxicants in a vehicle and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
After he was taken to the police station for booking, he was uncooperative, so a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw.
