HEIGHTS – The top two mayoral candidates in the Aug. 5 primary election, City Council President Mo Baydoun and City Councilmember Denise Malinowski-Maxwell, will compete for mayor in the November general election.
Baydoun received the most votes, 4,163 (58.49 percent), followed by Malinowski-Maxwell, with 1,913 votes (26.88 percent).
Lena Arzouni, with 551 votes (7.74 percent) and Husseini Anani with 473 votes (6.65 percent) will not advance to the November ballot.
Baydoun has based his platform on addressing the reckless driving plaguing the city, the flooding affecting houses, and blight throughout the city.
Malinowski-Maxwell’s priorities are for full staffing in the Police Department, increasing ordinance enforcement to address blight, and to address the Ecorse Creek flooding.
