Ecorse Creek cleanup project moves into Dearborn Heights

July 24, 2025 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

HEIGHTS – Clean-up work in and around flood-prone Ecorse Creek has begun in Dearborn Heights.

The city was notified recently by Wayne County that one of its project subcontractors, Robles Tree Services, is in the process of clearing unwanted trees, vegetation and debris this week from the North Branch of Ecorse Creek near the intersection of Hipp and Hanover streets.

Additionally, a second subcontractor, Burman’s Tree Service, is scheduled to begin clearing activities during the week of July 28 to Aug. 1, further downstream, west of the Southfield Freeway.

The project’s primary contractor, the Spicer Group, will have full-time inspectors on site throughout the clearing process.

The project calls for a tree, vegetation and debris cleanup along the entire length of the 16-mile creek – beginning at its eastern end (where it dumps into the Rouge River), and running west through Allen Park, Dearborn Heights, Ecorse, Inkster, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, Romulus, Taylor and Westland.

More information on this project can be found on the North Branch of Ecorse Creek Drain Maintenance Project at https://www.NBECD.com.
