RIVERVIEW — A 27-year-old Detroit woman was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license the morning of Feb. 20 after a police officer saw her driving 51 mph in a 35-mph zone on westbound on Sibley Road near Quarry Road.

The driver, who identified herself with a passport, said she did not have a valid driver’s license because of an unpaid parking ticket.

She said she was taking her mother home from the hospital when the older woman started feeling ill, so she was driving fast to get her to her residence in Brownstown Township more quickly.

The driver had misdemeanor arrest warrants from Lincoln Park, Birmingham and the Michigan State Police Metro North Post, which responded by requesting she be advised of the status of her warrants and released.

The vehicle, which was rented by the driver’s mother, was impounded and towed, and the women were given a courtesy ride to an apartment in Brownstown Township.
