DEARBORN, MI — Let the Dearborn Symphony take you on a thrilling journey through the rugged landscapes of the American West as it brings to life the spirit of the Gold Rush and the untamed frontier at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

The evening features iconic musical works that capture the essence of adventure, exploration, and the grandeur of the great outdoors.

Delight in the sweeping melodies of John Williams’ “The Cowboys Overture,” a vibrant and energetic piece that evokes the excitement of life on the trail. Relive the heroic grandeur of the Old West with Elmer Bernstein’s unforgettable score from “The Magnificent Seven,” a stirring tribute to courage and camaraderie.

Experience the breathtaking beauty of the American Southwest with Ferde Grofé’s “Grand Canyon Suite,” a masterful depiction of the canyon’s majesty through music. From the serene dawn to the vibrant colors of sunset, Grofé’s composition will transport you to one of nature’s most awe-inspiring wonders.

The symphony also will present the first movement of “Ghost Ranch” by living composer Michael Daugherty, a powerful and evocative piece inspired by the rugged landscapes and legendary stories of the American West. To complete this tribute, the concert also includes Dimitri Toimkin’s “Rawhide,” John Berry’s “Dances With Wolves” concert suite, and the iconic “Home on the Range,” arranged by David Guion.

The Dearborn Youth Symphony will join the Dearborn Symphony for the annual side-by-side concert, performing the stirring main theme from the popular television series “Yellowstone.” Their performance will also feature Aaron Copland’s lively and rhythmic “Hoedown” from “Rodeo,” a work that captures the spirit and energy of the American West like no other.

Ticket prices range from $18 to $38 for adults and $10 to $15 for students. Tickets are available by calling the Symphony office or the Michael A. Guido Theater box office at 313-943-2354. Go to dearbornsymphony.org for more information.

Dearborn Symphony’s season of “Music to Live By” will continue April 11 as the talented Whitney Claire Kaufman returns to the stage to pay tribute to the legendary Henry Mancini and his Hollywood contemporaries. The season wraps up with an electrifying finale “Fantasia Favorites” on May 9.

Mini-season subscriptions of three concerts and individual tickets are still available by calling the Symphony office or going to www.dearbornsymphony.org.
