HEIGHTS – Detroit Lions player Brandon Joseph was waived by the team Dec. 21 several hours after he was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol by Dearborn Heights police officers.

Joseph was subject to a traffic stop for speeding on Michigan Avenue at 1:47 a.m. Dec. 21, and was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was reportedly taken to a local hospital for a blood draw.

Media sources report that head Lions Coach Dan Campbell said the need to adjust the roster and Joseph’s DUI were the reasons for his release.
