RIVERVIEW — A 23-year-old Romulus man was arrested the night of Nov. 27 for operating under the influence of alcohol after a bystander reported that a driver in black 2020 Ford Fusion was hitting curbs near the library at Young Patriots Park.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the man, who had glossy, bloodshot eyes, spoke with slurred speech. He said he had been drinking at a bar in Wyandotte, but left after a disagreement with his companions. He said his eyeglasses were “smashed” while he was at the bar.
The man failed numerous standardized field sobriety tests and had difficulty maintaining his balance.
A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.096, higher than the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
He was taken into custody and cited for operating while impaired, and his vehicle was impounded and towed.
