TAYLOR — A Dearborn man is suspected of having washed four payroll checks from a Taylor restaurant where he used to work and then changing the name on the checks and increasing the payment amount before cashing them.

The restaurant owner reported Nov. 1 that four altered payroll checks were cashed, for a total of $3,315, with the check numbers matching those originally issued to the suspect for a lesser amount in his name.

When searched in the Law Enforcement Information Network, the name used on the doctored checks did not produce any hits.
