TRENTON — An employee of Jet’s Pizza, 2031 West Road, was tricked the afternoon of Nov. 1 by a con artist pretending to be from the corporate office conducting a financial audit.
The fraudster told the employee to take $1,400 in cash to a nearby store and convert it to pre-paid debit cards. She was then told to read the card numbers to the person on the phone.
The employee read the numbers on one prepaid card, then became suspicious and hung up. The transaction that did go through resulted in a $395.95 loss to the con artist.
