RIVERVIEW — A 23-year-old Potterville woman was arrested for operating while impaired at 5:55 a.m. Nov. 16 after she drove through the toll bridge gate and struck an electrical box with her vehicle near Bridge Road and West Jefferson Avenue.

The driver, who claimed she fell asleep at the wheel and did not know where she was, was unable to provide any identification. She said she had been at a club that night with friends, and her purse, phone and wallet had been stolen.

She was able to complete verbal and physical standardized field sobriety tests.

A preliminary breath test was administered, and the woman had a blood-alcohol content of 0.131, higher than the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.

She was taken into custody, and her vehicle was impounded and towed.
