ALLEN PARK — A man abandoned a cart with stolen merchandise and fled on foot from Home Depot, 3163 Fairlane Drive the evening of Aug. 14 after a loss prevention employee grabbed the cart with a $349 generator and a $199 chain saw.

The man, white, 6 feet tall, weighing about 175 pounds, and wearing a gray shirt and shorts and a high visibility vest, reportedly arrived in a silver sport utility vehicle.

He was watched throughout the store by loss prevention personnel using surveillance cameras, and was spotted trying to leave through the garden department doors without rendering payment.

When the man lost a tug-of-war over the cart and it overturned with the merchandise, he ran through the parking lot toward Fairlane Drive, and was last seen heading north toward Oakwood Boulevard.

Store personnel said surveillance camera footage would be forwarded to police, and they did wish to press charges.
