MELVINDALE — A 32-year-old Flat Rock man who was jaywalking across Dix Road near Oakwood Boulevard at 6:30 a.m. July 20 and who took off running when a police officer approached him was later found to have an outstanding Wayne County felony arrest warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.

The man ran into a nearby gas station convenience store and attempted to hide something on a store shelf.

The pursuing officer handcuffed and searched him, and discovered a crack pipe in the man’s pocket. He was cited for jaywalking and possession of drug paraphernalia, and transported to the Wayne County jail for the active felony warrant.
