TAYLOR — A blood trail following an early morning knife attack on a woman at Court Village Apartments the morning of July 12 led police to an apartment and later to a nearby hospital to question the stabbing victim, who was subsequently transferred to another hospital trauma center.

The initial caller said several people were outside the apartments with guns. When police officers arrived, they didn’t see any people, but found a blood trail leading into a residence.

No one answered the door, but to ensure that there were no victims at the site of the blood trail, a police officer entered through an unlocked window.

There was a significant amount of blood in the foyer, with a trail leading to the second-floor bathroom, where a kitchen knife was found. There were no people in the residence. The detective bureau was called to investigate.

Meanwhile, a woman who said she lived there approached the apartment and said she did not know what had occurred there.

Meanwhile, Corewell Health Hospital – Taylor reported that a 29-year-old Westland female stabbing victim had been admitted to its emergency room. The woman said she had been stabbed at another location, Ponds Village Apartments.

The woman was then stabilized and transferred to Corewell Health Hospital – Dearborn.

The stabbing victim, who said she had been drinking that night with a female friend, said that when she exited a vehicle that morning at Ponds Village Apartments, an unknown woman — whom the victim described as short and black — attacked her.

The victim said she does have a cousin that lives at the Court Village Apartment complex, but would not name the cousin nor provide her address.

The stabbing victim’s bloody clothing and cell phone were taken into evidence.

Police officers went to the Ponds Village Apartment complex, but found no evidence of a stabbing.

The 20-year-old woman who resides at the blood-filled Court Village Apartment said she had hosted a party the night before, and said a fight had occurred outside her apartment.

She identified a 26-year-old Detroit woman, one of her guests, who may have fought outside with the woman being treated for stab wounds. She said the fight spilled into her living room briefly. She said she did not see a knife, and did not know the condition of her guest, but thinks the woman may have been hurt enough to seek medical treatment.
