SOUTHGATE — A man carrying a bag of tools at 6:18 a.m. Aug. 15 may have been spooked by the presence of a Ring doorbell cam as he approached the front door of a residence.
When the man saw the surveillance camera, he dropped a used newspaper on the steps, identified himself as a newspaper delivery person and walked away.
The resident said he does not subscribe to any newspapers, so he found the situation to be suspicious, and thought the man might have intended to break into the house.
The footage from the Ring doorbell cam was forwarded to the police detective bureau.
