MELVINDALE — A 60-year-old Detroit man was arrested July 24 for tearing down the blue memorial ribbons put up around town in memory of the late Police Cpl. Mohamed Said, who was killed July 21 in the line of duty.

The man, who was charged with disorderly conduct and malicious destruction of property, had an officer safety caution flag attached to his name in the Law Enforcement Information Network.

He also had a probation violation warrant out of Monroe, and was held for pickup by officers from that jurisdiction.
