TAYLOR — A 38-year-old Taylor man was arrested for his second operating under the influence of alcohol offense the night of June 16 when he struck a curb and the boat that he was towing fell off its trailer and struck a transformer power box.
Witnesses, who had reason to believe the man was drunk, prevented him from leaving the scene before police officers arrived.
The responding police officers said the man smelled of intoxicants, had bloodshot, watery eyes, and his speech was slurred. He admitted to having had six beers earlier.
He failed standardized field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.148, higher than the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
The man was arrested and his gray 2008 Dodge Dakota and boat with trailer were impounded and towed.
