TAYLOR — A 37-year-old Taylor woman was arrested the evening of May 22 for assault with intent to murder after she fired a warning shot at a 24-year-old Detroit woman, a non-custodial parent, who was seeking informal contact with her two children.
The shooter, the aunt of the children in question, objected to the woman’s informal visit, since the two women, as well as the father of the children, had argued the previous day.
The children’s aunt fired a warning shot near the mother’s car from a turquoise-colored Glock Black Taurus .04-caliber handgun. She said the children’s mother had a gun, as well, but a search of her and vehicle did not yield a weapon.
The aunt also claimed that the children’s mother had tried to hit her with her vehicle the previous day. The children’s mother said the aunt was pointing a handgun at her at the time.
When police officers arrived on scene, the aunt surrendered the handgun, which was in a lockbox. Although the firearm was registered to the aunt, the serial number indicated that it had been stolen out of Detroit.
