TRENTON — A wallet containing a debit card and $20 in cash was reported stolen from an older man with dementia on May 15 by his daughter after the man was released from Corewell Health Hospital in Trenton.
Two days earlier the man had been transported by ambulance to the hospital, and initially the daughter inquired if her father’s wallet had been dropped in the ambulance.
However, fraudulent activity was soon discovered on the bank card, with a $448 charge made to a sportswear clothing retailer.
The woman said her father’s monetary loss was reimbursed to her account and a new card was issued.
