RIVERVIEW — A 25-year-old Carleton man who left the scene of an alleged assault in the 14000 block of Shenandoah Drive at 12:56 a.m. May 27 in a red pickup was subject to a traffic stop shortly afterward that led to a drunken driving arrest as well as a citation for assault.
The driver said he had gotten into an argument with the complainant at the Shenandoah address and had taken a swing at them. There was dried blood on the man’s shirt and hands.
The driver, whose eyes were glossy, initially denied drinking, then admitted to having a “twisted tea.”
He failed multiple standardized field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test was administered, and the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.166, more than twice the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
He was taken into custody, and his vehicle was impounded and towed.
