DEARBORN — A teen driver speeding and doing dangerous lane changes on Ford Road the afternoon of May 2 in a black 2010 Chevy Equinox was cited for reckless driving, and his vehicle was impounded when he was discovered to have a graduated driver’s license.

The teen was initially challenging a driver in a burgundy Chrysler 300 near Fordson High School, and was seen dangerously changing lanes in heavy traffic, including passing a police vehicle, and was estimated to be driving 80 mph in a 40-mph zone.

The Chrysler 300 driver abandoned pursuit and turned into a subdivision, while the Equinox driver continued west on Ford Road, exiting onto Greenfield Road, where a traffic stop was conducted.

Because he had a graduated license that required him to be accompanied by a licensed adult while driving, his mother was called and the vehicle was impounded. The youth bureau police sergeant was made award of the incident, and the teen was returned to his school.
