MELVINDALE — A 35-year-old Grayling man was arrested for drunken driving at 4 a.m. March 23 at the BP gas station, 18060 Allen Road, where he was found slumped over the steering wheel of a running Ford F-150 pickup parked in the lot.

When awakened by police officers, the man said he would purchase something from the gas station and then leave. However, he smelled of intoxicants and had glassy eyes.

The man provided a Michigan identification card, and a record check revealed that his driver’s license was revoked and he had three prior convictions for drunken driving.

He refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests and would not consent to a preliminary breath test, so a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. His vehicle was impounded.
