WYANDOTTE — A 47-year-old Detroit man was arrested at 12:10 a.m. Feb. 13 in the 400 block of St. John Street for operating while intoxicated with a high blood-alcohol content, and for driving with a suspended license.
His passenger, a 43-year-old Detroit man, was arrested for possession of crack cocaine.
When police officers on patrol spotted the vehicle, which had tinted windows, its high beam headlights were activated. After running the license plate, they determined that the vehicle was uninsured.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the passenger was seen placing something on the floor of the vehicle, which is usually indicative of the presence of contraband.
Upon speaking to the driver, the officers quickly detected signs of impairment. Neither of the men were able to explain why they were in the neighborhood that late at night.
It was subsequently determined that the driver had a blood-alcohol level three times the 0.08 limit for legally drunk in Michigan.
