ALLEN PARK — A silver Ford Focus parked on Keppen Avenue was struck the afternoon of Jan. 4 by a man in his 60s driving a black Chevy Equinox, who drove away from the scene.

The man later returned in a different vehicle, and knocked on the door of a nearby house, but did not contact anyone or leave a note before again leaving the scene.

A witness provided police officers with a license plate number of the Equinox, and the damaged vehicle was found at the registered address. The driver said he swerved to avoid a dog in the roadway, and said he did return to try to find the owner of the Ford Focus. He said he didn’t realize that he should have reported the incident to police officers. He was cited and given a police report number.
