ALLEN PARK — An unlicensed, Spanish-speaking driver fled a hit-and-run crash the afternoon of Dec. 12 in the parking lot near Bath and Body Works, 3360 Fairlane Drive.

The victim said the driver of the at-fault vehicle called the registered owner of the striking GMC Acadia to the scene to translate from Spanish to English. The registered owner provided their registration and proof of insurance, but refused to identify the driver, a 20- to 30-year-old  Hispanic woman. The vehicle owner and the at-fault driver left the scene before police officers arrived.

The victim provided the responding police officers with a photo of the driver and the vehicle that left the scene. They were given a police report for their insurance company.
