DEARBORN — A Detroit man with a suspended driver’s license was subject to a traffic stop the afternoon of Dec. 10 near Michigan Avenue and Telegraph Road when the license plate on his car did not match the vehicle to which it was attached.

The man said he recently acquired the gold 2011 Buick Lacrosse from his mother, but he could not explain why the license plate was not in her name.

The legal owner of the license plate, a Dearborn man, said it belonged to a vehicle he used to own, and he did not know how the plate ended up in someone else’s possession. He asked the police officers to destroy the license plate.

The unlicensed driver of the Lacrosse was cited for a plate violation and for not having vehicle insurance. His vehicle was impounded and towed, and he was advised to contact 19th District Court for an appearance date.
